HOPE worldwide If the donor is a UK tax payer there is a Gift Aid Declaration (GAD) form he / she would need to fill in (please see the attachment>>>). As a result of following this procedure the UK government will give us (HOPE worldwide) an extra 28 % on top of the donation the individual makes. FAQ's: 1.Does
HOPE worldwide ( Is
the donor a
UK
tax payer? If so by completing a GAD
(see above) form the UK Government would give
Hope an additional 28% on top of the donation being made by the donor.
As simple as that. 2.
After
filling in the GAD form does his / her responsibility end there?
The
donor's responsibility is to ensure that they have paid enough tax for us
to reclaim (if this is a personal donation they should have earned about
£6K of income between 3.Does
he / she need to pay any additional amount to match what the government
will pay HOPE worldwide ?
See
point 2. above. If they are not a taxpayer then we should not be claiming
GAD on their donation.
4.Is
it compulsory for a donor to go through this process ? What if they do not
want to claim a tax benefit and just want to make a donation ? Is that
possible ? They
can stipulate that we don't claim GAD on their donation and we must honour
their wishes. If they are paying tax, this is a waste of money and people
usually feel more secure to give by GAD if they can have a chat with
someone who can explain the process and the impact on their tax affairs.
