This is a sensitive topic as we have neither controlled accounting books nor purchasing processes and policies of organizations involved. But: we are talking about enabling developing communities to help themselves and not to rely entirely upon external help. Stimulating people to make their own living by producing and selling traditional products using traditional techniques has a sustainable impact and can largely be supported. The organizations mentioned here state that they buy local products directly from the producers, excluding commercial agents which may be taking a lion share of the price for themselves. Through co-ordination of shipping possibilities, transport costs are relatively low which keeps the price for the final buyer at an acceptable level considering the amazing quality of some pieces.
