Now for the controversial part. As businesspeople with careers built in the private sector, we feel that many of these problems are avoidable. The root causes are to be found mainly in:

  1. insufficient resources and attention directed to the big issues: in simple terms, apart from the Media (that sometimes use those issues to sell more rather than helping a healthy debate), many wealthy individuals, common people, governments and a certain amount of NGOs are not working as well as they should in providing sufficient support and resources.   2. improvements are necessary in the allocation and use of funds: despite great and very qualified efforts by many organizations, there is a substantial waste of resources.
